Holiday Home Makeovers with Mr. Christmas
Once the functional elements are determined, aesthetics are addressed to deliver a space that understands “How You Live”. This newly formatted reality show from Australia has eight teams competing for the highest score based on their renovation efforts and a $10,000 prize. Each round of competition consists of renovating one half of a Gold Coast Penthouse, as teams judge each other’s efforts as part of their overall score. Each renovation has a series of rules that are followed by which the teams are weighed, e.g. “give us a VIP lounge for gentlemen like us” or “layer and texture with rattan and cane”.
This competition series is a perfect binge, as they are already on season 2, and features many familiar faces in the design world. Presented by George Clark, this series travels up and down the United Kingdom to new locations, new restorations and amazing stories of people who have gone to extraordinary lengths to build their dream homes. With two days and 500 pounds, a professional designer and a handyman, two couples are given the opportunity to redo a room in each other’s homes. Neighbors, relatives or friends are chosen, then not allowed back into their own home for the two day makeover period.

Since Kirstie Allsopp first hit our screens and started knocking on walls on house viewings to see which could be knocked down, I have been more than a little obsessed with home renovations.
